Matt and Zack Stedman grew up in Rhode Island learning how to build from their grandfather. Matt started his own building company at the age of 21 while Zack received a degree in business management from Rivier College. Matt began working on high-end custom homes in the early 2000s and moved his business to Martha’s Vineyard in 2012. Soon after Zack joined the team adding his business and management experience to help expand Stedman Construction.

In addition, Matt also has a strong background in mechanical systems, green building, and design. He excels at understanding the vision of both the client and architect and working to ensure that the end-product is not only artful but also thoughtful and functional. Matt and Zack reside in West Tisbury with their families.

If you are still in the planning stages of your construction project, we have an established network of local real estate professionals, architects, engineers, designers, and landscape architects who would fit your style and budget.

The ability to work with your builder even during the earliest stages of the process allows you to troubleshoot problems before they occur. We will help ensure that you design a home appropriately valued for your area, that your budget is in alignment with actual construction costs, and that your design will comply with local building codes and environmental regulations.

The most important factor contributing to a successful build is planning. Compulsive foresight, anticipatory avoidance of barriers to timely completion, and building strong relationships with the island subcontractors are key components to effective planning and strong suits of the Stedman Construction team.

All of our business comes from word of mouth. We believe in the quality of our work as do our colleagues and clients. A beautifully designed project completed on time, on budget, and with flawless workmanship results in happy clients and that is the goal of Stedman Construction.

Stedman Construction uses industry standard American Institute of Architects (AIA) contracts. The AIA format provides a transparent billing process which keeps costs contained.
